First let me say; I am not even moving to Ecuador and I find the information in this book extremely valuable! While researching a trip to Cuenca w/ our college age daughter, for Spanish programs, I came across this little gem. This writer has clearly sifted thru many, many resources and now offers the reader the small glittering nuggets of experience, to be easily picked off the bottom of the pan.

Fresh style and highly informative: This book is a keeper...

I liked this book and the question format. It was well worth the money charged. It covered a wide range of issues you will want to know about if you decide to settle there.

"I just downloaded your Ecuador book on my Kindle and read it non-stop. Your advice is phenomenal, both in its detail and in the larger sense about making decisions based on personal priorities. I have read lots of 'living abroad' books (memoirs and 'how-to'); yours is truly the most useful and well written I have encountered." ~ Catherine Faris, Portland, Oregon

"I recently finished Living And Retiring In Cuenca on my Kindle. Undoubtedly, one of the best books of its kind and, having lived in numerous countries, I have read many such books! Many thanks and congratulations on your great book!" ~ Vicki (and Bill) Anderson, Hilton Head, SC

"We devoured your book and found that your consolidation of all that material was a huge gift. We have been gathering information for nearly a year, but now consider your book to be the singular and definitive resource for those headed to Cuenca." ~Don and Diane Murray

"I just finished your book on my Kindle this week and found it most informative. It was the best $3.00 I have spent on research so far. Thank you for taking the effort to put this most informative resource into one concise place." ~Frank J. Betancourt

"I downloaded it immediately when I saw it was available, and it is an excellent resource for those thinking of coming down to Cuenca to live, or even for those who already have moved to the area." ~Sherry Pangborn, Expat, Cuenca, Ecuador

"Just finished your book. What a great resource for anyone looking at living in Cuenca or already here. Terrific!" ~Rachel Miller, Expat, Cuenca, Ecuador

"I was very impressed with the amount of reserach you did to answer the questions. This book will be a great resource for people planning to come to Ecuador and Cuenca in particular." ~Nancy Watson,

"Thank you for your efforts and timely information; it is truly invaluable; it's with your information, we were able to get a discount on our airline tickets by following your timely advice on when to book a ticket." ~Lonna Wells

My wife and I are in the process of making a move to Cuenca, Ecuador. This book by Connie Pombo could not have been more timely. For those that might be contemplating expatriating to Ecuador and more particularly to Cuenca, this is an invaluable resource. Connie's writing is easy to read and friendly. She shares with the reader many of her personal experiences of having lived this challenging adventure. Her humor and spirit helped us over the pitfalls and excite us about the many possibilities. Connie is careful to paint a complete picture by revealing some of the challenges on this rewarding journey of discovering a new culture and a new country. I have been researching our planned move to Ecuador for over a year on the many "expat" blogs - Connie has taken the information that has taken me over a year to gather and distilled it into a well-organized and enjoyable read. Readers will use this as a "how to" guide for years to come. Well done, Connie! ~Southbound2

Totally enjoyed the book and even though we live in Cuenca, still found out things we didn't know! Single best referral in the book was the one regarding Juan Perez! We used him from the get go and even after 5 months, still use him. We call him "The Magic Juan." He's done everything from bank accounts, utilities, appliances, contracts - you name it! He's our go-to guy. Can't wait to check out some of the other referrals listed.

You have served potential expats well with the resources listed in the book. Hope our paths cross in Cuenca. ~Equator Expats

My wife and I are just beginning to explore the possibility of retiring to Cuenca, and I found this book to be one of the most interesting and informative resources that I've come across. Tons of important details, step-by-step accounts of obtaining visas, health care, etc., etc. Highly recommended. ~K. W. Jeter
